Joel Andrew Nunweiler went to be with the Lord at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon SK on January 30th, 2023 at the age of 47. He leaves to mourn, his mother, Sheila Nunweiler of Kindersley SK; his estranged wife, Colleen of Prince Albert SK; two daughters, Shanelle (Jordan Blagden) and Shalom of Prince Albert SK; and son, Micah of Prince Albert SK; one granddaughter, Addisyn; an older sister, Lisa Nunweiler of Melfort SK, a younger brother, Tim (Ruth) Nunweiler and children Esther, Samuel and Jonathan of Parkland County AB; as well numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his dad, Marvin Nunweiler (January 2006).
Joel was born in Eatonia Saskatchewan on April 3rd, 1975. He was the second child of three born to Marvin and Sheila Nunweiler. He was raised on the Nunweiler farm located in the Laporte Area. During school days, Joel enjoyed his time working on the farm raising poultry and grain. Summers were spent with all the cousins creating their own adventure at the farm. Following graduation from Eaton High School in 1993, Joel studied at Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology (SIAST) in Saskatoon where he completed the Parts Management Technology Program, gaining his Apprenticeship Level 2 in 1995. Joel moved to Kelvington SK in May 1995 where he got his first Parts Counter position with Humboldt Farm Equipment.
Joel was 20 years old when he married Colleen Wiebe in October 1995, in Landmark, MB. In March 1996, they moved to Kinistino SK, where he worked at Farm World Equipment as a Parts Counterman until May 2003. It was here where Joel and Colleen started their family. While there, Joel also continued his education at SIAST and in December 1996, he had earned his Journeyman’s certificate in Parts Management. In May 2003, Joel was promoted to Parts Manager at Farm World, where he worked until April 2012. Joel continued his career in parts management in various locations around Saskatchewan, including Cervus Equipment, Redhead Equipment, and Brandt Tractor in Saskatoon SK. Most recently in May 2022, Joel was hired as Parts Manager position at Rocky Mountain Equipment in Kindersley SK until his passing. During his downtime, Joel enjoyed spending time with his children and granddaughter, motorcycle rides, target shooting, road trips, and hiking in the mountains.
Those who were close to Joel enjoyed his quirky sense of humour and warm smile. He learned how to work hard on the farm. He was his own toughest critic, and took pride in a job well done. He had a knack for working with his hands, and was known for his knowledge of the wide world of agriculture parts.
Joel may not have been considered a rich man, but he was always generous. His family was his world, and loved to help his children whenever he could. He loved vehicles of all kinds, and could tell the make and model from miles away just from the headlights.
Joel’s Christian faith was an important part of his life. Through the years, through moments of joy and pain, happiness and heartbreak, his footsteps were guided by our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Down to his last moments on this earth, and even in passing we trust and believe that God knows best, and does all things well.
Romans 8:28-31 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. 31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us.
